DY09 6X Optical Zoom Lens Module for Compact Digital Cameras

Compact cameras leave very little room for the lens system, especially when real optical zoom is required. A usable zoom range, autofocus performance, optical quality and the mechanical structure all need to fit within a relatively small camera body.

The DY09 6X Optical Zoom Lens Module was developed for this type of application. With a 5–30mm focal range, a compact retractable structure and autofocus, it is designed for compact digital cameras, pocket cameras and other portable imaging products.

6X Optical Zoom from 5mm to 30mm

The DY09 covers a physical focal range of 5mm to 30mm, equivalent to approximately 27–165mm on a 35mm camera.

At the wide-angle end, the lens provides a 77.8° diagonal field of view, making it useful for landscapes, travel, group photos and everyday shooting. At the telephoto end, the focal length reaches 30mm with a 15.7° diagonal field of view, giving the camera more reach for portraits, distant subjects and detail shots.

For compact camera projects, this 6X range covers many common shooting situations while keeping the optical and mechanical structure at a manageable size.

Compact Retractable Design

One of the main design targets for the DY09 is keeping the lens compact when the camera is not in use.

With a retracted thickness of only 18.5mm, the module is suitable for products where internal space and overall camera thickness need to be carefully controlled.

When the camera is powered on, the lens extends outward to provide the full optical zoom range. When powered off, the lens retracts back into a more compact form.

8-Group, 9-Element Optical Structure

The DY09 uses an 8-group, 9-element optical design. Sixteen optical surfaces feature multi-layer AR coating to help reduce flare and ghosting while improving light transmission and image contrast.

The maximum aperture is F3.4 at the wide-angle end and F5.9 at the telephoto end.

The lens is designed for 1/2.33-inch CMOS sensors and supports approximately 12-megapixel optical resolution according to the current lens specification.

An IR Cut filter is also included to reduce infrared interference and improve color reproduction.

Autofocus and Close-Up Shooting

The DY09 uses an AF autofocus structure for both still photography and video applications.

At the wide-angle end, the minimum focusing distance is approximately 5cm, allowing the camera to capture small objects, product details and documents at close range.

At the telephoto end, the minimum focusing distance is approximately 100cm. The focusing system is designed to provide smooth and stable focus operation across normal shooting situations.

Inspection and Packaging

For production shipments, each DY09 lens module is individually protected with anti-static packaging, cushioning material and reinforced outer packaging to reduce the risk of scratches, dust contamination and transportation damage.

Before shipment, the modules are checked for optical resolution, motor drive operation and positioning sensor performance.
