Songdian · Her Vision Project: Bridging Mountains and Seas Through the Lens of Seeing

As a creator of imaging devices, we have always believed that the value of a camera lies not in its specification sheet, but in its ability to become an extended eye and a faithful companion – one that catches fleeting moments of emotion and unpolished truth. This conviction is what drives us to launch the “Her Vision Project · Songdian Camera Public Welfare Drift” in partnership with the “Lens Journey” team from East China Normal University. This is more than a donation; it is a transfer of the power to record – putting cameras into the hands of the most innocent eyes and letting them freely tell their own stories.

This summer, 40 Songdian cameras set out from Shenzhen, traveling 1,500 kilometers to their first stop: East China Normal University in Shanghai. Their “drift” has no fixed end, and their first journey welcomes 40 girls from the mountain regions of Guizhou – participants in a summer study program, and our most treasured first users.

As they lift the cameras for the first time and wander through the plane-tree-shaded campus of ECNU, what will they frame through the viewfinder? Perhaps the dappled light filtering through leaves on a pathway, the silent rows of books in the library, or the unguarded laughter exchanged among friends. We do not know – and we do not presume to guess. Because the true power of photography lies in that most honest pulse at the very moment the shutter is pressed – no rules of composition, no technical mastery, only the pure instinct: “I want to keep this.”

As an enterprise deeply rooted in the imaging industry, we understand the profound meaning of both “seeing” and “being seen.” What we offer these young women is far more than a lightweight device – it is an act of trusted empowerment. We trust that their perspectives deserve to be shown, their feelings deserve to be recorded, and those unadorned moments of youth carry a weight that no filter can replicate.

The 40 cameras will continue to drift indefinitely, passing from hand to hand to more girls who yearn to express themselves. We will impose no aesthetic standards on any photograph they take, because every sincere gaze is already a work of art. The essence of this journey is to encourage them to converse with themselves and with the world through images – and Songdian is simply the quiet pedestal that steadies the lens.

Corporate responsibility, to us, goes beyond manufacturing reliable equipment. It is about bringing human warmth to technology. Songdian has always embraced “enabling recording” as our core mission – we care about educational equity, about women’s empowerment, and about every perspective that mainstream narratives too often leave out. The “Her Vision Project” is a compact reflection of this commitment: through imaging, we build bridges, so that eyes from mountains and seas can see each other and shed light on one another.

The journey has just begun, and stories continue to grow. We look forward to seeing, through these vibrant and untainted lenses, a world that is as natural and original as it can be – a world of genuine joys and sorrows, of youth without a filter, and of a visual diary that belongs uniquely to each girl.
